Tank Inspections

Storage Tank Inspection/ Evaluation Service serving the Petroleum, Chemical, and Municipal Storage industries. Our management team for this division consists of High Level Professional Engineers, NDT Level II Inspectors, API-653 Certified Tank Inspectors, and Pennsylvania DER Certified Installers/ Inspectors. All staff is trained in Confined Space Entry procedures and certified by the American Red Cross in First Aid/ CPR.


Our expert staff is highly trained and offers many years of experience in the design, construction, inspection, and evaluation of storage tanks and vessels. We observe
the most current applicable Codes and State/ Federal requirements, while
maintaining the highest standards of quality and service.
Data collected on site are promptly submitted in a written report with sketches of bottom elevations and
benchmark. Samples of data collected include bottom plate layout/ thickness, interior tank plan, nozzle/piping orientation, roof plan, shell thickness, roof thickness, and
nozzle thickness. Required shell thickness and venting requirements are also addressed.The written report includes a recapitulation of inspection and
recommendations for a continuously functioning product storage vessel.


Standard Tank Inspection Includes:
  • Vacuum test of all bottom lap welded seams.
  • B-Scan random area for elimination of cutting coupons.
  • Ultrasonic testing on bottom plates, shell plates, and all lower shell nozzles.
  • Ultrasonic readings of roof plates in a star pattern.
  • Visual inspection of the perimeter foundation and grade.
  • Settlement survey to determine if out-of-plane deflection and edge settlement
       is within acceptable limits recommended by API 653 Code
  • Visual inspection of all tank connections and valves.
  • Inspection of internal floating roof when required. Inspection of support legs,
      seals, deck, pontoons, and anti-rotational guides.
  • Inspection and evaluation of venting capacity.
  • Drawings/ sketches for nozzle orientation, bottom layouts, roof plan, interior,
      and locations of all ultrasonic readings.
